Let’s talk about the Liver and Iron
Teachable Tuesday
______________________
I stopped eating meat when I was at school, but it didn’t come from feeling sorry for animals (that’s harsh), nor was it because of climate change, (even harsher, for some,) it came as a result of a Human Biology lesson where the teacher spoke about the digestive system and the different organs we have and their functions.
At the time my Mother cooked for us liver, kidneys as well as chicken, beef and fish. When I got home I told my Mother about what the kidneys do and why they emit a smell when cooking it and I told her about the liver too how it stores toxins.
She cooked liver because she knew it was high in iron and would help prevent us from having anaemia. Unfortunately, I was anaemic alot because I stopped eating meat immediately and I’ve never eaten meat since I was at school on that day!
More in my next email.
